French man builds Iron Man MK-II water jet backpack

Beijing time on December 8 news, the water sports fan Frank Zapata of Marseille, France, developed an iron-man style water jet backpack called "Flyboard". With this water jet pack, users can drill like water and jump into the air. In use, the user places his foot in a boot connected to a powerful spray device. The injection device is responsible for providing lift, and the manual nozzle is used to stabilize the airborne attitude.

In early 2011, Jetlev attracted many people's attention. Unlike this water jet backpack, Flyboard allows the wearer to dive into the water and then leap out of the water. Another difference is price. Jetlev's cost was astonishingly 60,000 pounds (about 93,000 U.S. dollars), while the basic Flyboard's cost was only 4,200 pounds (about 6,555 U.S. dollars).

Flyboard and Jetlev use similar mechanical principles to draw in seawater through a large hose connected to a spray device, which is then jetted out to generate power. The power generated by the injection device reaches at least 100 horsepower and is controlled by a manual nozzle. With this water jet backpack, users can jump up to 30 feet (about 9.14 meters) from the water. In the demonstration of Flyboard, Zapata performed amazing backflips. Although sensitivity can't be compared with dolphins, the fun that Flyboard can bring will certainly attract the interest of many people. (Text / Sina Technology)
