What should I prepare before laying the embossed floor?

When we discuss what needs to be prepared for installing embossed flooring, it's essential to first understand what embossed flooring actually is. Embossed flooring, also known as molded flooring, is a type of flooring created on-site using a unique pattern frame, resulting in a single-piece design. It combines colored printing materials with cast-in-place concrete, utilizing advanced technology and meticulous construction management. This process creates vibrant patterns with rich, varied colors while offering excellent durability, including resistance to wear, pressure, and slips. Its seamless, integrated structure makes it highly practical for various applications. Now that you know a bit about embossed flooring, let’s dive into the preparations needed before starting the installation: Firstly, the weather conditions during construction play a significant role in determining the final quality. Avoid working in rainy, snowy, windy, or sandy environments, and never work at night if the temperature fluctuates greatly throughout the day. Ideally, the ambient temperature should remain above 2°C for optimal results. To ensure a smooth construction process, cross-construction with other teams should be minimized. If unavoidable, consider implementing closed-off measures at the construction site. Foundations made of gravel or plain soil should always be compacted either manually or with a rolling machine. Secondly, the strength of the concrete beneath the embossed flooring should not be too high, and it shouldn’t contain any early-strength additives. Consistency in the thickness of the concrete is crucial, as is ensuring the right size of aggregate particles within the mixture. Use a flat vibrator for the lower layers and an insertion vibrator for the upper layers to achieve uniform compaction. After vibration, employ heavy steel rollers—wider than the mold floor by at least 0.3 meters—to repeatedly roll the surface, ensuring the platform is completely leveled. Always clean any debris off the roller before rolling. Once the concrete has been leveled, make sure the surface is free from sand and gravel. In areas where rollers can't reach, manual smoothing with a trowel and scraping with a straightedge is necessary to achieve a flat finish. Finally, after leveling and exposing the concrete, use manual iron trowels to smooth the surface just before it begins to set. Proper preparation ensures the longevity and appearance of your embossed flooring, making the effort worthwhile in the long run.
