High-performance casting aluminum alloy material developed successfully
A breakthrough in lightweight materials has been made with the successful installation of high-performance cast aluminum alloy wheels on motorcycles. These new wheels not only reduce weight but also significantly enhance performance. On December 7, a major scientific and technological project in Chongqing titled "Development of High-Performance Cast Aluminum Alloy and Its Application to Motorcycle Wheels" passed expert evaluation, marking a significant step forward in local advanced manufacturing.
It is reported that in 2008, under the coordination of the Chongqing Municipal Science and Technology Commission, Chongqing Jieli Wheel Manufacturing Co., Ltd. partnered with Chongqing University to conduct joint research and development. The project saw an investment of 4 million yuan, focusing on the technical research and mass production of high-performance aluminum alloy wheels for motorcycles.
According to the project leader, compared to traditional motorcycle cast aluminum alloy wheels, the new design reduces weight by 5.5% to 7%, while improving overall performance by approximately 30%. This enhancement allows for faster speeds, lower energy consumption, and contributes to more efficient fuel use and reduced emissions—key factors in today's environmentally conscious market.
With the successful development of this high-performance cast aluminum alloy, Jieli Company has completed its technological upgrades and established a production line capable of manufacturing over one million high-performance aluminum alloy wheels annually. This marks a crucial transformation from research to commercialization.
During the project's implementation period, Jieli produced a total of 1.71 million wheels. These products are now widely used in Yamaha motorcycles and have also been exported to international markets such as India, Vietnam, and Brazil.
