Last year, the Sichuan Northwest Geological Team carried out a comprehensive survey of stone resources in key areas of the county. They completed the assessment of ten mines located in Xikou, Baisha Town, Juntian, Guorong Township, and Tiantang, covering a total area of 1.9655 square kilometers with estimated reserves of 25.9761 million cubic meters. Following this, the County Stone Office intensified its self-inspection efforts, identifying 33 new resource points across 18 townships, including Longtang, Pingdi, Baisha, Huaqiao, and Dashaba.
Preliminary exploration has revealed that the county’s stone resources include more than 300 million cubic meters of recoverable reserves, featuring a variety of high-quality stones such as sapphire stone, sarcophagus stone, shell stone (horseshoe stone), ash wood grain marble, beige stone, marble, bluestone, and others. These materials are characterized by large patterns, high density, high hardness, strong wear resistance, substantial reserves, and ultra-low radioactivity levels. Among them, shell stone, scutellaria, rutile, and marble have been tested at the Beijing National Stone Quality Testing Center and classified as Class A decorative stone materials. This makes them suitable for use in both indoor and outdoor construction, offering significant mining value and promising market potential.
The county's high-quality stone resources have drawn considerable attention from investors. To date, through active investment promotion, the county has signed, constructed, or put into operation 10 stone enterprises, involving 13 resource points, with a total contracted investment of 1.562 billion yuan. As of September, three companies—Hengyuan Mining, Zhongyi Stone, and Benzhuang Stone Powder Factory—have already started operations. Panxing Group has completed preliminary procedures and is currently applying for a mining license. Yongfang Stone is in the process of completing its formalities, while Panjiang Group and Yanghe Group are preparing for listing. Additionally, two blue stone processing plants are under development.
According to the county's stone industry development plan, it aims to establish 10 stone processing bases with a scale exceeding 100 million yuan by the end of the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period. The goal is to transform the area into a "stone industry gathering center" in northeastern Yunnan. By then, the stone industry is expected to cover an output value of 800 million yuan, generate 130 million yuan in tax revenue, and promote a modern, large-scale, and intensive development pattern.
