Efficient cure of bean wilt

In all regions of China where soybeans are cultivated, blight is a common and serious issue that can lead to significant crop loss. The disease causes plants to become stunted, yellow, and eventually die, drastically reducing yield. The pathogen responsible for this blight specifically targets soybean plants, making it a major threat to farmers. To manage this problem effectively, it's essential to implement timely pesticide control measures. Once a plant is infected, the symptoms typically begin during the seedling stage, with leaves turning yellow and the plant eventually dying. In the field, the disease often starts during the flowering phase. It spreads rapidly from the base of the stem upward, causing the stems to darken, shrink, and show discoloration in the vascular bundles. The leaves may turn brown along the veins, wilt, and fall off, while the roots become discolored and develop fewer lateral roots. Infected plants also produce fewer pods, which may show yellow-brown discoloration on their backs and sides, leading to the overall decline and death of the plant. In severe cases, the entire plant can quickly wither from the base upwards. To help prevent and treat bean wilt disease, the Chinese Pesticide Network offers several effective strategies: First, choose disease-resistant soybean varieties based on local soil conditions and climate. Varieties such as Qiu Kang 19, Chun Feng 2, Jiu Bai Bai, and Jinzhou Double Season Beans have shown good resistance to this disease. Second, practice crop rotation by alternating soybeans with onions, garlic, or cabbage. Avoid planting cowpeas in the same area repeatedly, as they can increase the risk of infection. Third, use sorghum in cultivation and ensure proper spacing to improve air circulation. Maintain consistent watering practices and combine them with efficient irrigation and drainage systems. Apply fertilizers wisely, increasing the use of phosphate and potash to promote strong, healthy growth. If any diseased plants are spotted, remove them immediately to prevent further spread. After harvest, clear the field of all diseased plant material to reduce the bacterial load for the next growing season. Fourth, treat seeds before sowing. A recommended method is to mix the seeds with 50% carbendazim wettable powder. Fifth, apply chemical pesticides for prevention and treatment. During the early stages of infection, spray the base of the plants thoroughly. Options include a 75% chlorothalonil wettable powder diluted 600 times, a 50% thiophanate-methyl wettable powder diluted 500 times, a 20% phosphorus emulsifiable concentrate diluted 200 times, or a 50% carbendazim wettable powder diluted 500 times. Another option is to apply a 10% double-effect hydrating agent diluted 250 times, using about 250 ml per plant. Spray once every 10 days and repeat the process 2–3 times for best results. By following these steps, farmers can significantly reduce the impact of blight and protect their soybean crops more effectively.
