At 10 a.m. on January 18, over 60 sanitation workers gathered at Zijingshan Square in Zhengzhou City. Among them was Xu Tinghui, who was carefully organizing a white woven bag containing 600 pairs of brand-new white gloves.
"Each of you gets four pairs of cotton gloves and two pairs of rubber gloves. Uncle and auntie, you’ve worked hard. I hope you won’t get cold hands this winter," she said with a warm smile.
Xu Tinghui, originally from Zhoukou Taikang, works as a customer service representative in a real estate company in Zhengzhou. Concerned about the harsh winter weather affecting the sanitation workers, she used her own money to buy these gloves.
More than 60 sanitation workers from Jinshui District were cleaning up after a company and three other businesses. After receiving the gloves, their faces lit up with gratitude. "Thank you so much! We will sweep the streets even cleaner," one of them said.
A few days earlier, Xu Tinghui received a year-end bonus of 1,000 yuan from her company. Instead of keeping it all, she had a plan: part of it went home to honor her parents, and the rest was used to purchase labor insurance products and gloves for the street cleaners.
On the afternoon of the 17th, she spent 1,600 yuan to buy 400 pairs of cotton gloves and 200 pairs of rubber gloves. For her, this amount was nearly half of her monthly salary. Her generous act also caught the attention of her company’s leadership, who sent a helper to assist her.
Colleagues describe Xu Tinghui as a typical 80s-generation person full of compassion. "Last summer, she bought watermelons for the sanitation workers. She always keeps drinks and mineral water in her car just to give to those working on the streets," they said.
One day, she saw a sanitation worker wiping a trash can with a wet towel. The scene touched her heart deeply. "At that moment, my heart ached. I thought I needed to do something. I looked online and decided to buy some rubber gloves for them," she explained.
Her kind gesture not only warmed the hands of the workers but also inspired others to show more care and support for those who keep the city clean.
