1. Overview of the galvanized sheet market
In recent years, the production of galvanized sheet in China has increased year by year, and the import volume is also increasing year by year, and the growth rate is even higher than the increase in production volume; after deducting the repeated statistics of production, the consumption of galvanized sheet is about 5.27 million tons. After 1999, the import volume of galvanized sheet exceeded the production for the first time, the self-sufficiency rate of domestic products was less than 50%, and there was a trend of decreasing year by year.
(1) Consumption status of galvanized sheet
In recent years, the increase in the production of domestic galvanized sheet is mainly due to the increase in the output of hot-dip galvanized sheet. From 1998 to 2002, the production of hot-dip galvanized sheet increased from 970,000 tons to 2.2 million tons; while the import volume increased faster. From 370,000 tons in 1998 to 1.56 million tons in 2002; apparent consumption increased from 1.32 million tons to 3.67 million tons. In 2002, the domestic self-sufficiency rate of hot-dip galvanized sheet was about 60%. The domestic production and import volume of hot-dip galvanized sheet increased from the previous year, especially the increase in import volume, mainly due to the supply. The demand for thin-gauge hot-dip galvanized sheets for the production of color-coated sheets has increased, resulting in a decline in the self-sufficiency rate of domestic products.
(2) Current status of electrogalvanized sheet consumption
In recent years, with the rapid development of the family car market, the basic popularity of household appliances and personal computers, the large export of electronic products, and the development of the security door market, the demand for electrogalvanized sheets has grown too fast. At present, the production scale of China's electro-galvanized sheet can not meet the needs of the domestic market in terms of quantity, variety and quality. From 1998 to 2002, the domestic electro-galvanized sheet production increased slowly, from 170,000 tons to 400,000 tons; while the import volume increased rapidly, from 730,000 tons to 1.78 million tons; apparent consumption increased by 870,000 tons. To 2.16 million tons. Domestic product self-sufficiency rate is less than 20%.
2. Analysis of galvanized sheet imports
The increase in domestic galvanized sheet consumption is mainly driven by imports. In recent years, the import volume of galvanized sheets has increased year by year. The imported varieties are mainly electrogalvanized sheets, but the proportion of imported electro-galvanized sheets has been decreasing year by year. Correspondingly, the proportion of imported hot-dip galvanized sheets has increased year by year. In 2003, the import volume of hot-dip galvanized sheet in China surpassed the import of electro-galvanized sheet for the first time.
