Commissioning of the surge tank

To set the pressure, follow the high-to-low principle step by step. The process includes: blocking pressure, release pressure, and operating pressure setting. This sequence must be followed in order to ensure proper function and safety. Once the pressure is properly adjusted, it's essential to verify the closing pressure and confirm that it meets the required specifications. After confirming that the pressure settings meet the demand, you can safely open the outlet valve. Before doing so, make sure the outlet valve remains closed to prevent unintended gas flow or accidents. Maintaining the regulator’s appearance is also important. Regular inspections and proper handling help avoid damage and pressure fluctuations that could affect performance. During the commissioning of a 1+1 pressure regulating system, if continuous air supply is needed, manually control the pressure through the bypass line. Operate the pressure regulating valve with one hand while holding the pressure gauge to monitor changes. Adjust the pressure as needed to maintain stable outlet pressure. Once the regulator is functioning correctly, slowly open the outlet valve and then close the bypass valve. If the regulator uses a 2+0 configuration (one active, one standby), both lines should be tested. Keep one line open and the other closed (as a backup). Vent the pressure between the inlet and outlet valves on the standby line to prevent the regulator diaphragm and spring from being overstressed. When using two channels for active switching, set the pressure parameters according to the main and auxiliary lines. Ensure both inlet and outlet valves are fully open. Active switching requires a high level of regulator functionality, typically with voltage regulation accuracy within 2.5% and sealing precision under 10%. To test the active switching, simulate a fault by increasing the main line pressure. If the main line pressure becomes too high, the shut-off valve will activate, cutting off the gas supply. Check whether the auxiliary line can automatically restart and maintain the set pressure. After passing the test, reset the main line shut-off valve and adjust the main line pressure back to its original setting. This ensures the main line supplies gas normally, while the auxiliary line remains on standby. This method is commonly used in public utilities and industrial gas supply systems. For series monitoring and voltage regulator commissioning, the monitoring regulator is usually kept fully open. First, check the pressure signals of both regulators (or pilots) to ensure they are correctly connected. Next, press the springs of both pressure regulators to the tightest position of the front regulator (the monitoring one), allowing the rear stage to reach the blocking pressure and adjusting the blocking valve accordingly. Then commission the release valve. Adjust the front regulator (monitoring regulator) to set the center pressure to 10% above the desired outlet pressure. Finally, adjust the tension spring of the post-release regulator (operating regulator) to bring the downstream pressure to the outlet setting. At this point, the center pressure will rise to match the inlet pressure.
