Set the pressure according to the high-to-low principle, following the process step by step: first set the blocking pressure, then the release pressure, and finally the operating pressure. After setting the pressure, it is essential to check the closing pressure and ensure that it meets the required value. Once the pressure settings are confirmed to be correct, the outlet valve can be opened. Before this, the outlet valve should remain closed to prevent any accidental overpressure or damage.
Maintain a clean and neat appearance of the regulator to avoid pressure fluctuations and physical damage. During the commissioning of 1+1 pressure regulating equipment, if continuous air supply is needed, manually control the pressure using the bypass system. Operate the pressure regulating valve with one hand while holding the pressure gauge, and monitor the pressure changes regularly. Once the regulator is functioning properly within the desired pressure range, slowly open the outlet valve and close the bypass valve afterward.
If the regulator uses a 2+0 configuration (one active, one standby), both lines need to be adjusted. One line should be open while the other is closed as a backup. Vent the inlet and outlet valves of the standby line to prevent the regulator’s diaphragm and spring from being overstressed or fatigued.
When using two channels for active switching, set the pressure parameters based on the main and auxiliary lines. Ensure both inlet and outlet valves are fully open. The active switching system requires higher performance from the regulator, typically with voltage regulation accuracy ≤2.5% and sealing precision ≤10%. To test the active switching, simulate a fault on the main line by increasing its pressure. If the main line pressure becomes too high, the intercepting valve will activate, cutting off the gas supply. Check whether the auxiliary line can automatically start and maintain the set pressure. After successful testing, reset the main line’s blocking valve and adjust the main line regulator back to its original setting. This ensures both the main and auxiliary regulators are correctly set, with the main line in operation and the auxiliary line on standby. When the main line fails, the auxiliary line takes over without interrupting the gas supply. This method is widely used in public utility and industrial gas distribution systems.
In series monitoring and voltage regulator commissioning, the monitoring regulator is usually kept fully open. First, verify that the pressure signals from both regulators (or pilots) are accurate. If the pressure signal tubes are connected behind the operating regulator, they are correctly installed. Next, compress the springs of both pressure regulators so that the front regulator (monitoring regulator) is tightened to its maximum pressure. This will allow the rear stage to reach the blocking pressure, and the blocking valve can be tested. Then commission the release valve. Adjust the front regulator (monitoring regulator) to set the center pressure to 10% above the outlet pressure setting. Finally, adjust the tension spring of the post-release regulator (operating regulator) to set the downstream pressure to the desired outlet pressure. At this point, the center pressure will rise to match the inlet pressure.
