If the joint is completely sealed, the curing time will depend on how tight the seal is. In an airtight environment, the glue may never fully cure. Higher temperatures can soften the glue, and the gap between metal surfaces should not exceed 25 mm. Always check the bond thoroughly before using any equipment.
During the curing process, acidic glass powder may emit a vinegar-like smell due to acetic acid evaporation. This odor disappears once the product is fully cured and leaves no residual smell.
4. **Bonding**:
- Clean the metal and plastic surfaces thoroughly to remove oils. For most materials, rinse with acetone after cleaning.
- Sand the rubber surface and wipe it with acetone. Be cautious when using acetone, as it is a strong solvent.
- Apply the glass glue evenly on the prepared surface. When joining two surfaces, place one first, then press the other side firmly to expel air without squeezing out the glue.
- Leave the bonded item at room temperature until it is fully cured.
5. **Sealing**: When using the glue for sealing, follow the same steps. Force the glue into the joint or gap to ensure full contact with the surface.
6. **Cleaning**: Before it cures, wipe off excess glue with a cloth or paper towel. Once cured, use a scraper or solvents like xylene or acetone to remove it.
7. **Safety Notes**: Acidic glass glue releases irritating gases during curing, which can affect the eyes and respiratory system. Neutral alcohol-based glues release methanol, which is potentially carcinogenic and can cause skin or respiratory irritation. Always work in a well-ventilated area, avoid direct contact with eyes or skin, and wash hands before eating or smoking. Do not ingest the product, and keep it away from children. If the glue gets into your eyes, rinse immediately and seek medical attention. Fully cured glass glue is safe.
8. **General Instructions**: Read the correct application instructions carefully before use. Pay close attention to safety guidelines and health warnings.
9. **Storage**: Store the glass glue in a cool, dry place below 30°C. High-quality acid-based glass powder can last over 12 months, while neutral types can last more than 9 months. Once opened, use it quickly and reseal the container if not fully used. When reusing, clean the nozzle thoroughly or replace it if necessary.
