Metso: PressFox Squeezer Roller Wrapped at Suzhou Zixing

Long-lasting encapsulation materials and superior dewatering performance

At the beginning, when it decided to optimize the energy consumption of the nip, the Suzhou Zixing Plant had been looking for a durable, durable coating material. After comparison, it began using Metso's PressFox in 2010.

Metso's newest generation of PressFox's polyurethane coating material has excellent performance in terms of wear resistance, design of press roll covering materials, and reliable quality. It is suitable for press rolls with various types, such as flat roll groove and blind hole, suitable for all kinds of paper, line pressure and speed. And VacuFox is suitable for the encapsulation of grooved and blind hole superimposed vacuum rolls.

Both coating materials use the latest bonding technology to improve the bonding of the adhesive layer and the roller body and the aging of the adhesive layer due to long-term wet heat conditions. The bonding strength of the adhesive layer is increased by a factor of 3, and the stronger bonding force means a longer life cycle, more safety, and reduced cooling water. In addition, since the water absorption performance of the new material is smaller than that of the old material, the adhesive layer does not need to be dried, thereby reducing the hardness change of the adhesive surface.

PressFox can be used to customize several kinds of roller surface structures such as groove, blind hole or groove + blind hole, optimizing the space for water, so as to achieve more dehydration, keeping the roller surface clean. Therefore, the dehydration process is improved, which is also an improvement in the most basic function of the press section.

Reduce steam loss

PressFox was used to track the steam consumption in the dryer section in the Suzhou press from the press section

“This is the best rubber packing material we have ever used. Its use cycle, dewatering effect, and impact resistance have all improved a lot,” said Zhang Gangyi, senior engineer at the Maintenance Department. “According to our analysis, this shows that steam consumption is reduced. The cost per ton of paper can be reduced by 5 yuan, and the cost can be reduced by about 1 million yuan per year."

The results show that PressFox is a very durable material that can be used in prolonged periods under harsh conditions. The Zixing plant in Suzhou was very satisfied with its performance, so the same order was placed on the rubber for the backup roller.
