US MEMC polysilicon project settled in Jinchang

Jinchang is rich in wind and solar energy resources, with an annual sunshine duration exceeding 2000 hours. The region features a vast Gobi Desert covering 3,000 square kilometers, offering ideal conditions for large-scale renewable energy projects. The city boasts a well-developed power grid and strong industrial support, making it one of the most promising areas for new energy development in China. As a result, it has become a key focus for national investment in wind and solar energy infrastructure. Over the past year, Jinchang has secured 3 million kilowatts of wind and photovoltaic development capacity. More than 20 enterprises have already invested in building wind power stations, with five projects now connected to the grid, generating a total of 300,000 kilowatts of electricity. Notably, the US-based MEMC company has launched a polysilicon production project in the area, supporting the growth of local industries such as solar panel mounting systems, galvanization, and inverters. Jinchang has also been recognized by the National Development and Reform Commission as a demonstration city for the utilization of new energy, highlighting its role in driving sustainable energy transition across the country. With continued investment and policy support, the city is well-positioned to become a major hub for clean energy production and innovation.
