MIT scientists have found a new way to filter carbon dioxide from the air
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) may have developed new weapons to combat climate change. According to the latest report from MIT News, the research team has recently created a brand new system capable of collecting carbon dioxide from the atmosphere at any concentration level.
Compared with existing collection schemes, MIT said that the new system consumes significantly less energy and costs, and can handle the air concentration emitted from fossil fuel power plants. During charging, carbon dioxide is absorbed from the airflow flowing through the electrodes, and pure carbon dioxide is excluded during discharge.
This research was led by MIT postdoctoral fellows Sahag Voskian and Professor T. Alan Hatton.
