What is the function of the lightning protection system and the fuse in the decoder

The better-branded decoders are equipped with lightning protection systems and fuses to deal with accidents such as lightning strikes and power shorts.

Most quality-seeking decoders usually have a simple lightning protection system, mainly to prevent the destruction of the decoder through the RS485 bus. The price of a standard lightning protection system will be several times higher than that of the decoder itself, so it is usually designed to have a relatively simple lightning protection system.

The lightning protection part is to be completed by two lightning protection diodes, which can prevent the destruction of the induction lightning of 10 milliseconds and 600W, and can basically resist the common induced lightning attacks. When the induced lightning energy exceeds the limit of the lightning protection diode, the lightning protection diode will be burned and absorb the induced lightning energy to protect the decoder's internal devices and the power transformer from being destroyed. After the detonator is burned and the detonator is removed, the decoder can work normally, but it does not have the lightning protection function.

The fuse in the decoder basically has two major functions:

1. Prevent 220V power supply from short-circuiting during construction or cause injury to personnel. The fuse will automatically cut off the 220V power supply when the 220V power supply is short-circuited or the personnel get an electric shock to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment. Normally the 220 volt fuse will be designed with a transparent plastic housing to prevent electric shock caused by the fuse metal connector.

2. Prevent the short circuit of the camera and cause the power transformer to burn out. This usually does not use the fuse holder shell.

In some well-designed decoders, there are three fuses that increase the output protection of an external output AC 24 volts to prevent the destruction of the decoder internal devices and power transformer caused by PTZ short circuit.
