Accelerated localization of tools in the automotive industry

As the performance and quality of domestically produced tools are getting better and better, more and more automobile manufacturers in China are beginning to purchase and use domestically produced tools, and their market share continues to grow. Even the original tools used in new projects are directly using domestically produced tools.

According to reports, about 40% of the tools of Shanghai Volkswagen Engine Factory are domestic products, mainly concentrated in drill bits, end mills, reamers, PKD inserts, CBN inserts, ordinary grinding wheels and honing sticks. More than 90% of the North Gear Transmission Plants use domestically produced tools, and only a small number of imported tools are purchased. The factory compared the domestic and imported tools and found that the performance of the former is getting closer to the latter, and the cost performance is better than the latter.

Compared with imported tools, domestically produced tools have advantages in performance and price. Due to the close distance of space, great attention to customers and convenient communication, they are also welcomed by domestic auto companies in terms of supply.

However, domestically produced tools still have shortcomings, including: in some cases, the processing accuracy requirements cannot be met, and the production consistency needs to be strengthened.
