For the huge domestic construction market, Saint-Gobain launched new products such as Clipper handheld gasoline cutting machine and special resin cutting sheet for rescue. These products can be widely used in general materials cutting in the fields of construction and fire rescue. Mr. Liu: In 2013, the performance of the entire Chinese hardware market was relatively calm. Although the Guangdong market experienced a significant decline due to export, other regions in China experienced more or less growth. The market has not experienced ups and downs.

Saint-Gobain made a very timely and complete conversion in the hardware channel in response to the current market situation. The future development direction of Saint-Gobain is mainly concentrated in three aspects: diversified products, very strict channel management, and more competitive mid-to-high end products.

Saint-Gobain has shifted from the pursuit of volume growth to the pursuit of product diversification. Mr. Liu: The new product “elastic polishing film” that we participated in this time was the second phase of the Shanghai R&D Center, which was successfully developed in the second half of last year. The product has reached the international advanced level in terms of technology, which is enough to prove the strong research and development strength of Saint-Gobain China R&D team.

Reporter: Does China's high-quality and inexpensive raw materials help Saint-Gobain to enhance its product competitiveness?

General Liu: As we all know, a product has three important elements: abrasives, binders, and fillers. These three elements undergo a very complex chemical reaction to produce the perfect product. Many of Saint-Gobain's raw materials are purchased domestically, but we have a very strict quality management system. We only choose raw materials that meet the standards for product production.

Reporter: How does Saint-Gobain maintain its competitive advantage in the market?

Mr. Liu: First of all, Saint-Gobain is the only professional supplier of abrasives with a full range of products. It has obvious advantages in product diversification. Secondly, Saint-Gobain, as the world leader in abrasives, has a huge Brand advantage; again, Saint-Gobain has established five factories in China. We have no demand for dealers, we value the ability of dealers to develop diversified markets.
