Plastic cutting
A variety of potentially hazardous materials can be produced when cutting plastics. Aliphatic hydrocarbons are produced at relatively low temperatures, while aromatic hydrocarbons (like benzene, PAH) and polyhalogenated polycyclic hydrocarbons (such as dioxin, furan) are increased at higher temperatures. Some of these substances may produce cyanide, isocyanate (PU), acrylate (PMMA), and hydrogen peroxide (PVC). Medical implications include:
Toxic: cyanide, CO, a derivative of benzene;
Allergens/irritants: isocyanates, acrylates;
Respiratory tract irritation: toluene, acrolein, amines;
Carcinogenic: Benzene, certain PAH substances.
Ceramic processing
